How to obtain coins?

Method 1 (recommended - the easy way):

1. Open an account at a trusted exchange. Here are some well-known exchanges* for you to consider:
    1. Binance
    2. Coinbase
    3. FTX
    4. Kraken

Account opening is free and typically takes less than 15 minutes, including the ID verification process described  below.

2. Verify your ID (also known as KYC) as required and as instructed. This typically requires you to use a smart phone to upload a selfie photo, and then a photo of your national ID or passport.
The verification process typically requires less than 5 minutes on your part. After you have uploaded the required photos, it may take some time (usually about an hour) for the exchange to validate your documents and activate your account.

3. Purchase coins instantly by depositing funds into your account at the exchange through bank transfers or debit cards, or other means. Many exchanges also allow credit card deposits.

* FastTech is not an affiliate of the above exchanges. This list is taken directly from the crypto exchange list, ranked by trade volume, at CoinMarketCap.com (as of April 1st, 2022).

Method 2 (anonymous/more privacy, but slightly more technical)

1. Install a free wallet of your choice:
   1. Coinbase Wallet - Best for Beginners
   2. Electrum - Best for Bitcoin
   3. Mycelium - Best for Mobile
   4. Exodus - Best for Desktop
   5. Crypto.com - Best for DeFi Wallet
   6. Ledger Nano X - Best Offline/Hardware Crypto Wallet (not free)
   7. BitcoinPaperWallet - Best for privacy but technical knowledge required

2. Buy coins through a peer-to-peer or over-the-counter OTC network. Pay in your local currency through bank cards, debit/credit cards, cash, and/or other local payment methods, and give your wallet's "receive address" to the seller for them to deposit your coins into.

Here are some suggested sites:
1. Mycelium.com Local Trader (no KYC / no ID check)
2. LocalCoinSwap.com (KYC optional)
3. LocalBitcoins.com (KYC required)

Complete privacy is possible.
